time to embrace the inevitable

today we decided was the day to embrace the inevitable. chase has slowly been losing his hair since the day he was born and as you can see from the picture his forehead has gotten much bigger and the hairline has now reached the middle of his head. so much has fallen out over the last couple of days that he looks like a puppy that has a shedding problem. it is everywhere, his clothes, my mouth, his mouth, his blankets. well, i think you get the idea. so this morning we put on our bravest faces and grabbed the clippers.
you can see that the idea of cutting off all of his flowing locks does not appeal to him either. he just kept looking at me with those pleading eyes and i almost could hear his thoughts of terror screaming at me from behind those puppy dog eyes. (imagine how scared you might feel if you saw me coming at you with hair trimmers.) surprisingly, he did very well throughout the process. he thought that the clippers tickled and he was very patient with me as i mourned the loss of his hair as it fell freely to the counter below.

here is what was left after the massacre. nadya took one look at it and had to leave the room. she was so upset that i did this. she told me she couldn't watch anymore destruction. she loved to run her fingers through his hair and always was the first to tell everyone how soft it was. he is such a good pet for her.

as you can see, the look on his face hasn't changed much since the beginning. he wasn't quite sure what to make of the entire situation. he is clearly in shock!

it was just too much for the little guy. he finally gave up and decided he would dream about his lost hair and remember the good old days when he could feel the wind blowing through his flowing locks.

sweet dreams little man!
