fall is in the air

i love fall! it is the best season! not only does it mean that football season has begun (which means that brent is busy coaching again and constantly checking the national rankings to see where byu falls each week), but everything changes new colors, there is a crispness to the air that gets rid of the yucky, stifling heat from summer, but it is also my birthday (11 days and counting for those that might have needed a reminder). so i have changed the blog background to honor this most joyous season.

updates on the fam- brent made it through his knee sugery just wonderfully. it was worse than the doctor thought, but all should be repaired now. he has already gone back to work and no amount of heavy sedation or doctor ordered rest will keep him off the football field. rocky mtn won their first game last week against orion jr. brent was glad for the win, but was sorry to see our nephew luke be on the losing team. brent would definitely like to recruit luke to the rocky mtn side of the field as he is such an awesome player! today they will play sandridge and hopefully we can make it if i can lug christian's sleeping body off the couch in time. i loved having brent home during his recovery. i still marvel at the fact that 10 years ago he chose me. i will be forever blessed and grateful for him and the wonderful husband and father that he is.

hannah and nadya are doing great in school and started dance again a few weeks ago. i love seeing how excited they are when they show me their new moves. i could not have been more proud of my dear sweet hannah at our last fast and testimony meeting. she bravely made her way to the pulpit to bear her testimony for the first time and as i sat and listened to her sweet and heartfelt words i could not help wondering how i got so lucky to blessed by having her as my daughter.

christian is now starting to like preschool. at least this week i did not have to pry his hands off my pantleg when it was time for me to go. and there was even a "goodbye mommy" uttered as i left yesterday. usually it is just a wail of "don't leave me." baby steps.....

chase is beyond the happiest baby i have ever seen. all he does is smile and laugh at everything. he is starting to be very mobile as he rolls over and over all around the room. christian is quickly learning that if he doesn't want his toys to be touched and drooled on by his little bro then he needs to get them off the floor. chase is also my first thumb sucker. we were visiting grandpa val last weekend and chase had his thumb in his mouth and grandpa just started laughing and then the dream sequence music came on and we were all transported back about 51 years ago and grandpa related the story of how my father was a big time thumb sucker. we are talking professional level. he loved to suck his thumb and rub the silk edging on his blanket and whenever grandma would wash the blanket and hang it out to dry, my dad would be so sad to have to wait for it to dry that he would sit under the clothesline and rub the wet silk edging and suck on his thumb while he waited for it to dry. memories!!!

well i have lots of pictures that i could post, but this camera is a battery vacuum and i never have enough. so pics later!!!

I'm glad Brent's surgery went well. And don't discredit yourself when it comes to him choosing you....I think he got a pretty good deal out of it!

Give the kids squeezes from us Arizonians!

Love,
Jen
