she's here!!!

so alot has happened in the last week. last thursday mya leigh blanch joined our family at 7:16 a.m. weighing in at 7 lbs 3 oz and measuring 20 1/2 inches long. she had tons of black hair. she was 4 weeks early, so she was a very good size. she came out screaming, but they found that she was not breathing very well and so she was wisked away for some extra oxygen treatment and about an hour later she was admitted to the nicu for some more help. she was initially put on oxygen and IV therapy for what they thought might be an infection (luckily later her blood work all came back negative). this news was very hard for us to take as most of you know we have done the nicu before with christian and my heart was breaking knowing that i would have to leave the hospital without my baby. the next morning she was resting much easier and her oxygen levels had actually been turned down significantly from the day before, but she had been put under the bili lights for a high bilirubin count. they also started two extra IV's (she had one in her hand, forearm, and now head) in case any of them failed. it is so hard to see our baby have to go through all of that, but we know it is for the best and just what she needs to help her come home to us faster. so on saturday brent and i said a very hard goodbye to mya and came home to four other angels who had waited patiently for their mommy to come home. they had been able to see mya in the hospital and all agreed that she was the cutest baby ever and couldn't wait for her to come home to join our crazy zoo. we have been visiting mya as often as possible, but it is hard to leave the other four. the guilt i feel when i have to leave mya and the guilt i feel when i have to leave all the others is overwhelming. yesterday she was taken off of her oxygen and came out from under the bili lights. today she was taken off all of her IV meds and all that remains is a feeding tube. the doctors have done all that they can for her and now it is up to her to find her appetite and eat. she needs to eat 1 oz (30 mL) every three hours by mouth for 48 hrs straight in order to come home. it is a very frustrating experience and we just pray that she finds her appetite soon and can come home. she is truly a miracle and we are so blessed to have her in our family. we thank everyone for their prayers and phone calls during this time. we love you all and will keep you posted on her progress.

First off Congrats!!!! She was good size! She is seriously so cute! Love her hair and her cute little nose! This brings back all too familiar memories of when Deegan was born. But the people in the NICU are fabulous. It is very frustrating waiting on them eating good. That is what kept Deegan there for the last few days as well. Can't wait to come and see her when you get her home and get all settled in! She is perfect!
