december was very eventful for us as a family. christian continued to compete in wrestling tournaments and after placing first in many of them, when he competed at fremont he ended up having to wrestle some first graders because there weren't any kindergartners his size and so he was dealt his first blow. he placed third and as you can see by the picture it was the ultimate defeat. he was so upset and vowed never to wrestle again. but luckily he has had a break from it over christmas and should be up and ready to go for some tournaments this month.

hannah participated in her school science fair this month and chose to do her project on whether or not people could tell the difference between regular food or their low fat version. she had several of our family members at different parties be her guinea pigs and then she put it all together. we were so proud of her and how hard she worked. she stayed on top of it and didn't procrastinate (much unlike her mother) and ended up placing 2nd!!! she was very surprised and excited and even happier that it is all behind her.

brent graduated from weber state university on december 10. and even though he didn't take the day off to walk in his graduation we still went out to dinner to celebrate and i am so proud of him. he worked his butt off for so many years to get to this point and it was all worth it. he loves to teach and be around the kids at that school. he has been very successful in coaching with the football team and now with the wrestling team. the kids especially loved having him home for the christmas break and can't wait until summer when he will be with us for a couple of months. (although i think he may not be quite ready for it with all us crazies!!!) now he plans to take some time off and then go up to utah state to get his masters and then see how much farther he takes it. but for now, it is just nice to be done and enjoy the fruits of his labor.
the kids all had a good christmas and it was fun to spend it with them healthy this year. last year at this time i was so sick from being pregnant that i didn't even enjoy the holidays and just wished they would go away. so it was nice to be vertical and fed!!! we had our usual breakfast with my family and christmas eve with brent's family and each year it just gets bigger and better. santa delivered all that was on the lists and made some very happy kids. i think that even though mya didn't really know what was going on, she enjoyed watching the other kids and loved playing with the toys she got. she is now working on some teeth and chews on anything she can get her hands on, even daddy's sausage fingers.

as for the new year, we are ready to begin anew. last year was not our best and we are ready to start over as a family and move into new and fun adventures. i hate to make resolutions, because just like everyone else they only last for me for a month if even that long, but this year i am really going to try to hit the major ones i want to get at. here are just a few:
1. read my scriptures daily.
2. play more and clean less.
3. run another race this spring or summer.
4. try to cope with sending my sweet hannah to girls camp this year (i don't see this happening).
5. attend the temple every month with brent.
6. just be a better me, find myself again.
happy new year everyone!!!
